I looked up the definition of Intentional. It means “done on purpose; deliberate.” Of course, you knew that already. But knowledge and action can be two very different things. While we can appreciate the philosophical sense of being intentional, we can get stuck in trying living it out. So, let me ask a few questions:
• Are you making parenting decisions on purpose?
• Are you being deliberate in the way your family spends time or the activities your children pursue?
• Is there a fundamental reason for choosing each thing that occupies your day?
• Are you looking at the long-term ramifications of today’s actions?
While it may seem simplistic, I have found that very few families ever think about why they do things. If you want to live life on purpose, you have to make decisions years ahead of time.
